Side Projects: Custom Comic Con Booth

I worked on a booth specifically for comic con with the purpose of drawing in kids & parents in an interactive way. Archery (with foam tip arrows) was the decided activity. I had the idea to make spinning targets similar to a carnival game with spinning targets. However we didn’t want the connotation to be murder or humans or fluffy cute forest creatures, so I had the idea to use dinosaurs instead.

At this time I was balancing a lot of projects, so I utilized two interns on my team to help create Illustrator files. I then took those files and converted them to DXF files appropriate for a CNC machine, and I passed those off to a custom fabrication house. They quickly made the wood cut outs of the dinosaurs, and afterwards a genius co-worker with woodworking skills constructed them. We finished the project in time enough to do testing and implement a few changes (such as adding extra weight to the bottoms to help with the impact force).

Final Result increased foot traffic by 160% compared to the old booth and provided valuable time for parents to learn more about why they should their kids to Trackers Camps.
